Talanta Africa Fund initiates and develops locally led organizations and initiatives in the communities around Lake Naivasha, in Kenya’s Rift Valley — building opportunity where talent already lives, and working hands-on until each model is proven well enough for others to validate, carry, and scale.
What we’re growing
Talanta means talent in Swahili. In the old story, a talent was treasure entrusted to stewards — to be multiplied, not buried. We believe the talent a community needs already lives within it. What’s missing is opportunity — and opportunity handed down from outside fades when the giver leaves. So we don’t hand it down. We build it: local organizations that create opportunity year after year, run by the very talent they exist to multiply. And an incubator never stops planting. This is the work today.
Talanta Africa Football Academy
“No school, no football.” Since 2019, more than 300 children and youth have come through TAFA’s programs — staying in school, mentored and academically supported, playing seriously, and equipped for the step into adulthood.

An education and empowerment center where scholarships, tutoring, and mental-health care travel together. In every grade Wezesha serves, its students now top their class.

Building toward
A funder that works like a co-founder.
Our approach comes from a decade spent building companies and nonprofits inside a business incubator — applied here, with patience, to community organizations. We stay hands-on in strategy, leadership development, oversight, and measurement — but the organizations are Kenyan, and so is the credit. Some initiatives we started; others, like TAFA, were founded by community leaders and we chose to back them and stay. Half of TAFA’s leadership team came up through its own programs.
